Though Aisha failed to make a bumper start and had just around 30-35% occupancy, the redeeming factor was its weekend collections. As per trade figures the movie’s worldwide first weekend collections are around Rs 26 crore approx, which is not bad given the movie is a chick flick. Aisha, which opened on 475 screens in India and 135 screens overseas is doing expectedly good business at multiplexes; the movie has been well received by youngsters, especially style-hungry gals. Touted to be India’s answer to Sex & The City, Sonam Kapoor’s film is being referred to as an ‘effervescent, coming-of-age’ film. PVR Pictures Head (Worldwide Distribution) is quoted as saying, “We are extremely delighted with Aisha’s initial response at the box office and expect the film to set a new benchmark for female protagonist centric films in India.” I’m sure most of you must have watched the flick by now.
