After the registration and submission of application forms for pre-school admissions for the 2011-12 session, parents are now waiting for private schools to come out with their first lists. In fact, DPS International School and DPS Vasant Kunj have already put up their first lists of selected candidates on Monday.

This year, private schools across the city have different dates for the announcement of results, unlike last year when the Directorate of Education (DoE) had fixed February 1 as the date of the announcement of results.

In the coming days, more schools will be announcing their first lists. This year, the DoE asked all schools to announce their results by or before February 1.

DPS Vasant Kunj is now calling parents for verification of documents. The first group of parents will be going to the school on Tuesday. DPS Dwarka is slated to release their first list on Tuesday.

Parents, meanwhile, say the different dates for announcement is adding to their anxiety. “If I get a seat at one school, I will have to submit the fees there. If my son then gets through one of the preferred schools, will I get a fee refund from the first school?” asked Amit, a parent.

Some parents also complained that a few schools had called them for interaction. One parent said: “In the name of verification of documents, schools are assessing parents.”

A few parents, who did not wish to be identified, said one school has demanded Rs 40, 000 in order to confirm their child’s admission.
