Visibility of the crescent moon is calculated using the criteria, developed after decades of research by Khalid Shaukat. Development of the criteria included several thousand authentic observations, collected over a period of 150 years in different locations of the world. These visibility calculations jive with the observations every month since 1993.
Moonsighting is expected on Thursday, September 9 in most of the world. so Eid will be on Friday, September 10 in most of the world. However, according to a new fatwa from the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), Eid-al-Fitr will be on Thursday 9th September.
