iPad 2 sold out at Apple stores | Why You Should Upgrade Your Old Apple iPad 1 To The New Apple iPad 2

My hunt for the elusive iPad 2 delivers some big game | Report: AT&T already shipping iPad 2 | Why You Should Upgrade Your Old Apple iPad 1 To The New Apple iPad 2

For the second straight day, throngs of people lined up outside of Apple stores across the country hoping to get their hands on an iPad 2, and for the second straight day, Apple was unable to meet demand for the device. According to reports on Twitter, Apple stores nationwide, from California, to Idaho, to Virginia and Florida, were sold out of the device, with some stores selling out just hours after opening their doors.

The situation was worse for Apple’s retail partners, including Best Buy, Target, Walmart and AT&T, many of which did not even receive a shipment of iPad 2s today. Additionally, retailers that I spoke with had no idea when additional iPad 2 shipments would arrive. It appears that the distribution of iPad 2s is completely controlled by Apple, giving third party iPad 2 retailers no choice but to wait and see how many iPad 2s arrive in the mail.

With shipments expected to be limited on Sunday, it appears that many prospective iPad 2 buyers will have to wait until at least next week to buy the device. And with online iPad 2 shipments delayed by up to three weeks, we don’t expect the availability of the device to improve anytime soon.

If you are reading this article I’m going to assume that you already own a first generation Apple iPad.
You already took a chance by adopting a new technology into your daily life when you purchased the first Apple iPad and you should be commended for your gusto. However there is a new and improved Apple iPad that has just been launched, the iPad 2.
The new Apple iPad 2 offers many new features, all of which improve on the amazing user experience that Apple offered in the iPad 1. Below are three new features included with iPad 2 and what they mean for you.

Dual core Apple A5 processor
Apple A5The new dual-core processor inside iPad 2 is very fast and according to new benchmark info provided by iOSnoops and Anandtech the Apple A5 offers a big jump in performance over the Apple A4 inside iPad 1. Benefits you get from having a dual core processor such as the one in the iPad 2 is more speed in doing simple things like launching and navigating through applications.

The Apple A5 like the Apple A4 offers the graphics all in the same chip design. The new graphics engine in the A5 in iPad 2 is the PowerVR SGX 543MP2 and it’s the most powerful graphics engine in a tablet at the moment going by benchmarks. The benefits from the new graphics engine are very much apparent when playing games like Real Racing 2 HD, in-game action happens a lot faster/smoother and graphics just look more realistic overall, when compared to iPad 1 and the A5′s graphics engine.

If you really liked playing games on iPad 1 then the bump in performance in iPad 2 will surely please you.

Thinner and lighter design

When Apple launched iPad 1 no other tablets available even came close to matching it’s slim and light design, but that design has been overhauled on iPad 2 and there have been some forward thinking improvements.
Apple iPad 2 ThinnerApple has trimmed down the thickness for iPad 2 to a mere 8.8mm and the weight has been scrubbed down to 1.3 lbs. The original iPad 1 was 13.4 mm thick and weighted an obese 1.5 lbs. Also adjusted was the rear design, previously Apple had the iPad 1′s back be rounded but on the new iPad 2 it’s back is more square. Early reviews report the new iPad 2 is much better to hold the the previous model.

Cameras are now available

One of the most asked for features for the follow-up to iPad 1 was cameras. Apple delivered dual cameras for iPad 2. There is a front facing VGA camera and a rear facing 720p HD camera. The tablet can now do video chatting and comes pre-loaded with Apple’s FaceTime video chatting application and Apple’s Photo Booth application for fun photo manipulation.

Now to be fair the cameras aren’t going to wow you with picture quality like a dedicated camera would but they are just good enough for video chatting with distant family and friends.

New Software Will Be The Real Positive For iPad 2

However the real reason to get iPad 2 is the new software/applications that are here now or coming soon for the tablet. The developer support is very strong for the iPad and by all indications it’s only going to get stronger thanks to the new hardware improvements available in iPad 2.
