Jal Cyclone Status today | Cyclone Jal Weakens

The Cyclone Jal over southwest Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards, and crossed north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts close to north of Chennai last night and lay centred over coastal areas of north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh, northwest of Chennai.

The Cyclone Warning Centre in Visakhapatnam says that it would further move in a west-northwestward direction and weaken gradually.

In Andhra Pradesh, the people and administration in south coastal districts where massive evacuation was undertaken heaved a sigh of relief as the intensity of Jal came down after it crossed the coast near Chennai last night. According to Met officials, heavy rains along with gales are likely in Nellore , Prakasam, Guntur, Krishna and Chittoor districts of the State under the influence of this Depression.
