Nabard Sanctions Rs 111.24 Crores
Bangalore, Nov 10: The state has been sanctioned a loan assistance of Rs 111.24 crore by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for building up of rural infrastructure in various districts.
The projects sanctioned cover rural roads, bridges and minor irrigation (MI) projects. The projects have been sanctioned under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF XVI) and the cumulative sanction to the state during the year 2010-11 stood at Rs 514.26 crore, according to a press release issued by the NABARD.
Implementation of 37 rural road projects with a total length of 119.85 km and 13 rural bridge projects with a length of 269.10 metres is expected to benefit 16 districts connecting 220 villages with 76 marketing centres.
Projects would generate non-recurring employment to the tune of 9.61 lac man-days. Implementation of the 161 minor irrigation projects is expected to increase the irrigation potential in 16 districts to 9368.22 hectares, NABARD said.
