HENRY Joseph won the Collie Crane Hire Collie Cup at the races on Saturday for the second year in a row.

The gelding was ridden by Russell Hanson and won the 2000-metre race for Lark Hill-trainer Stephen Miller.

The Moora Cup winner, Chevic, looked the winner but Hanson came with a perfectly timed ride to get up by a neck.

Chevic came second for Ascot-trainer Roland Piercey, followed by Majestic Boy for Barragup-trainer Maria Pateman.

Hanson dominated the Healthway Go for 2 & 5 Collie Cup meeting, with four winners and two place-getters at the six-race program.

The other feature event, the United Crane Hire Handicap over 1200m was also an exciting event with Fuzzy Logic and Sukey Tawdry racing head-to-head for the entire journey.

Fuzzy Logic prevailed by half a length at the finish.

Starline Porsche lived up to her name by leading all the way in the Coalcliff Hire handicap and won by nine lengths.

Spillane won the Healthway Maiden, Lauries Dream won the Cater Care Service/Kone Maiden and Birkhall, at 11 years of age, proved age was no handicap when he won the Applecross Electrical and Testing Service Handicap.

Michael Miller trained a double and won the leading trainer award, sponsored by Pine Hauliers.

Collie Race Club president Keith Gilbert said it was good to see a large crowd on Saturday and it made the hard work preparing the course worthwhile.

He said he also appreciated the work of volunteers.
