kamal haasan (tamil: கமல் ஹாசன்; born 7 november 1954) is an indian film actor, screenwriter, and filmmaker, considered to be one of the leading method actors of indian cinema. Haasan has won several indian film awards, including four national film awards and a good deal of southern filmfare awards, and he is known for having starred in the most number of films submitted by india in contest for the academy award for best alien language film. He is ordinarily referred to by the title ulaga nayagan (lit. Universal hero) as well to acting and directing, he is a screenwriter, songwriter, playback singer, and choreographer.
