The NDA alliance of JD(U) and BJP, led by Nitish Kumar, appears set for a landslide two-thirds victory in the Assembly elections in Bihar with the ruling combine surging ahead in 180 of the 240 seats for which trends were available.

JD(U) is ahead in 102 seats while its partner BJP is leading in 78 seats in the elections to the 243-member House while Opposition RJD-LJP alliance was way behind with 37 seats.

Congress, which went alone in the elections, was leading in five constituencies. Others are ahead in 3 seats.

The emphatic mandate for Nitish Kumar declares that Bihar has finally transcended its caste politics and voted for an administration that provided good governance.
