Multi-tasking devices are gaining popularity with each passing day. Victorinox now adds another technological advancement to its Swiss knife. Yes, the company now outs its new Secure Pro USB drive alongside the other usual tools. The company remarks that this device is one of the most secure memory stick designs made available to the public.
The USB drive is innovative in terms of its design, which is made up of several layers of security like finger identification and thermal sensor. It is also tamper-proof and any kind of forceful operations performed on it activates its self-destruction mechanism that can damage the CPU and the memory chip permanently. Victorinox unveiled the product at its flagship store in London. To prove the security standards of its product, Victorinox announced prize money of £100,000 to a team of professional hackers if they could hack the product within the two hours of the launch. However, the prize went unclaimed.
The product designer Martin Kustler, feels that, “Life is becoming more digital every day, and yet people do so little to protect their data. The world’s most common password is ‘12345’ – and even encryption can be broken given time.” This USB drive makes use of the AES256 technology alongside Victorinox’s patented unique MKI’s Schnuffi Platform Single Chip Technology. The single chip technology ensures that there are no external or any other accessible lines in between the coding and security steps like on multi-chip solutions, which makes the hardware of this drive unbreakable.
The Secure Pro USB drive comes with secure data encryption technology and provides users with all the other tools available with the Swiss Army Knife. The drive has been launched in three distinct sizes ranging from 8GB to 32GB. It also comes with a removable USB flash drive, biometric fingertip recognition technology, LED Mini White Light, retraceable Ball Point Pen, blade, scissors, nail file, screwdriver and a key ring for easy portability. The Secure Pro USB ranges from £50 to £180 (approx. Rs. 3,366 to Rs.12,119), depending on the size of data storage.
