    Velayudham: YEPME Fashion

    Velayudham from director Jayam
Raja is yet another story of the triumph of good over evil. It is the story of
an unassuming villager who is unexpectedly thrown into the middle of a chain of
events. These ultimately cause him to reluctantly don the role of the saviour of the masses. The
comedy of Santhanam is a good plus to the movie. Music by Vijay Antony is sub
par and the heroines Genelia D’Souza and Hansika Motwani add some glamour. The
mélange of music, train fight, gun shots , glamour and super-heroism ends with
a surprisingly good message in the end, that everybody should invoke the ‘Velayudham’
within them and not wait for a super hero to rescue them. A twist in the tale
is also provided in the end as to which of the two actresses Vijay chooses as
    his life partner.

    The directive given to the
costume director for costume design is clearly ‘Bright and vibrant’. For most
of the movie , hero wears a beige trouser coupled with shirts in a variety of
hues including hot pink, purple, dark green, bright yellow, bright blue and
brick Red !. The black shirt and black trouser and white shirt with black
trouser combo also works very well for Vijay. The outfits in ‘Chillax’ number
are interesting with Vijay sporting a checkered waist coat and some puzzling
combinations like a Purple and blue shirt with a red collar worn over a sky
blue T-shirt. This is matched by Hansika’s purple and green ensemble. We at YEPME
think that, when it comes to colour combinations, it has been a no-holds barred
adventure in Velayudham! While Hansika sports vibrant sarees and half-sarees,
Genelia looks smart and chic in both western wear and salwar kurtas.  Hansika dresses the part of the sexy siren and
Genelia is more conservative in her attire depicting her role as a journalist.

The movie Velayudham is a hodge
podge of many ideas that have already been featured in films like Anniyan,
Thirupaachi etc and has absolutely no semblance of logic. However for the
staunch Vijay fans it is a treat that includes the usual style, stunt, comedy
    and punch dialogue routine.
