Union minister M K Alagiri’s son Dayanidhi Alagiri’s Marriage Going to happen on Tomorrow (18th  November) infront of Sonia Gandhi.

AICC president Sonia Gandhi will not be attending the November 18 wedding Union minister and DMK strongman M K Alagiri’s son. Sources said the Congress chief will not be able to attend the high-profile wedding and would instead send a message to the family. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s plans have not been finalised yet. Alagiri had personally invited the top Congress duo to his son Durai Dayanidhi’s wedding in Madurai. While some may link the Congress president’s absence from the wedding with the drama over 2G spectrum, the resignation should not be seen as a message that the Congress is planning to snap ties with DMK, sources said.

Meanwhile, the temple city is gearing up for the wedding of the season, which is also expected to showcase the coming together of the various members of the DMK’s first family.

Camping in Madurai, Alagiri has been personally supervising the preparations of the ceremony and the hectic supervision has even kept him away from a crucial Parliament session. His sister Selvi is in-charge of all the formal arrangements with the minister’s close associates pitching in with the preparations. Brother MK Stalin visited the marriage venue in Madurai about two weeks ago to fine tune the arrangements.

Sources said Alagiri had instructed partymen to strictly ensure that the arrangements in Madurai did not inconvenience the general public, as several heavy-weights in the state besides central ministers and political leaders are expected to descend on the temple city to attend the marriage.

Deputy Chief Minister and Alagiri”s brother M K Stalin visited the venue to oversee the arrangements.

Road encroachments were removed over the week. The stretch from Alagiri”s house to Tamukkam ground, which was taken up for refurbishment 15 days ago, has been decorated with lights and festoons.

Actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikant, among other film personalities, are likely to attend the wedding.
