Guzaarish- Movie Review- Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film “Guzaarish” starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is slated to hit theatres on 19th November.
This is not the first time that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has explored a rare disorder in a character to raise awareness about these lesser-known ailments.
Such kind of ailments were shown in numerous films like Aamir Khan suffered from Anterograde Amnesia in “Ghajani”, Amitabh Bachchan from Progeria in “Paa”, Shah Rukh from Asperger Syndrome in “My Name is Khan”, and Farhan Akhtar from Schizophrenia in “Kartik Calling Kartik”.
In “Guzaarish”, the lead actor of the film Hrithik Roshan suffers from Paraplegia, a complete paralysis of the lower half of the body, including both legs, usually caused by damage/injury to the spinal cord. Bhansali is well recognized for two things.
Firstly, the visual splendour in his films and secondly he takes inspiration from various stories. “Guzaarish” is said to be a remake of Christopher Nolan’s Hollywood flick “The Prestige”. The film has numerous sequences which is worth appreciation.
* The courtroom sequence and Aishwarya’s outburst towards the end of it.
* The hearing of the petition at Hrithik’s house.
* Hrithik’s act going wrong and the near-fatal accident.
* The finale.
In the film Ash plays the role of Hrithik’s nurse, called Sophie. Ash added “You will discover me as a nurse with a very serious personality. This serious personality is because of a past story of mine in the film.”
She said further, “You will see how a nurse also lives a life of a quadriplegic in this film. That makes the character special for me. This is all I will say right now.”
The film also stars Aditya Roy Kapoor, Monikangana Dutta and Nafisa Ali. The story of the film is set in Goa.
