Neera yadav | Noida LAnd Scam

A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here on Tuesday sentenced former Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Neera Yadav to four years in prison after finding her guilty in connection with the Noida land scam.

The court, which convicted Yadav under Section 120B and 131D of the Prevention of Corruption Act, also levied a fine of Rs 50,000 on her.

It has been reported that Nira Yadav, who is the wife of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Mahindra Singh Yadav, willfully allotted seven acres of land to Flex Group Chairman Ashok Chaturvedi.

The Court also held Chaturvedi guilty and awarded a quantum punishment of four years of imprisonment to him in the case.

The CBI had registered the case on the orders of the Supreme Court.

Yadav was removed from the post of Chief Secretary following a Supreme Court order issued last October.

The apex court order came on a PIL filed by the Centre challenging her appointment in the wake of corruption charges against her in the land scam.

The Noida Entrepreneurs Association had filed a writ petition in 1997 and alleged large-scale bungling in the allotment of land in different sectors and in commercial Sector 18 during Yadav’s tenure as chairperson-cum-chief executive of the Noida authority. (ANI)
