The music launch of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavanan’ was not a grand affair as the audio CDs made it straight to music stores on Wednesday without any official function that one would usually expect for such an eagerly-awaited album.
This is a straight contrast to the film’s Hindi version ‘Raavan’, which had a big-ticket music launch in Mumbai recently. However, sources say there will be a special ‘Raavanan’ promo meet in the second week of May in Chennai.
“A grand launch was initially planned for May 5 but we are unable to go ahead with it due to some unavoidable circumstances. The promo meet will have performances by the lead actors of the film in the presence of Mani and Rahman,” sources add.
Produced by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies in association with Big Pictures, ‘Raavanan’ has Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles along with Prithviraj, while its Hindi version has Abhishek Bachchan replacing Vikram. The film will be dubbed and released in Telugu as ‘Villain’.
