Mappillai, the 1989 movie which starred Rajinikanth is making news again. The movie, which was directed by Rajasekar, had made close to $ 3 million dollars at the box office. The music to this box office hit was given by veteran Ilayaraja.
Director Suraj is all set to remake the Rajinikanth movie, Mappillai, with Rajini’s son-in-law Dhanush. The movie is going to be produced by Sun Pictures and the credited cast includes Hansika Motwani and Manisha Koirala and Vivek. Vivek, according to sources plays a role which was not there in the original movie. This comedy flick is expected to release by the end of this year.
Director Suraj has been heard saying that though the movie shares the same name as its original, it’s different. The basic plot is the same but many changes have been done in its script. The character portrayed by Vivek is added for instance. The scenes shot between Vivek and Dhanush are reported hilarious and would make the audiences roll over with laughter. Suraj says that he is aware of the immense responsibility of remaking a Rajini flick and doing justice to it especially as it stars Dhanush. The music to this remake of Mappillai is given by Mani Sharma who is well-known for his art in Tollywood.
